ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Ben, welcome to my site! I'm 22 years old, and I currently live in Colorado with my partner Makynzie, and our two cats Pierogi and Topaz.

I'm a programmer, with a passion for games (both digital and tabletop). When I'm not playing games, I spend a lot of my free time working on making games of my own, and I love exploring and fleshing out my design ideas. For most of my life, I've loved playing video games and learning about game design, but only started pursuing game development midway through college. After changing my major from Biochemistry to Computer Science, I discovered my passion for programming and game design, and have been spending my free time making cool stuff ever since.

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) in Q4 2024, where I recieved my Bachelor's of Arts in Computer Science with a specialization in Game Design and Development, along with a minor in Game Design. Now, I'm a programmer and hobbyist game developer working on building my skills and shipping finished games for people to enjoy.

During university, I used to livestream myself playing video games and talking about game design. I was a VTuber, specifically a cartoon skeleton one with a sona of my own design! It was really cool to see my sona realized in such a tangible way, and I learned a lot from my time in the content creation space. I taught myself how to build and curate an audience, manage a community, design my own branding, and just... got better at connecting with people. I'm proud of how far I went and the things that I made, but I have definitely have moved on from that era of my life now. Content creation was fun, but in the end, it was just too taxing on my energy and mental state, and it wasn't enough to make a living. To be honest, I'm pretty glad that I disengaged with that side of internet discourse; the difference in understanding between the people who play games and the people who make them is just too vast (and oftentimes, too hostile). I'd much rather focus on making my games instead.

I made this website primarily to show off my work to potential employers, so feel free to look around and see all the stuff I've worked on. Thanks for stopping by, and please sign my guestbook!
